When the Industrial Revolution started the slaves were need to mass produce the cotton products and work on the big cotton plantations. The Industrial Revolution started a massive leap in the textiles industry. As the mechanisation grew the demand for the raw materials to make the products grew larger and textiles had just become Britain's largest export so what did they need that's right more cotton for the textile mills and until the 1800's the cotton mostly came over form India but because of the big demand India wasn't able to keep supplying so Britain then looked towards the great land of South America where the cotton industry was flourishing and because of how hot and long the summers were it made it the ideal condition to grow the cotton but the work for the slaves was hard they spent their days in the sun picking cotton and the job didn't stop there they still had to separate the seeds from the cotton and because this process took so long the slaves would work from the sun rising to the sun setting.
